The Silver Snoopy award is given to NASA employees who have shown outstanding professionalism during a NASA mission. Snoopy has been affiliated with NASA since the Apollo 10 mission that used Peanuts characters as callsigns. Since the origin of the award in 1968, over 12,000 have been given out, including one to Omega for their involvement in the Apollo 13 mission. When one of the oxygen tanks blew on board the spacecraft, the Omega Speedmasters the crew were wearing were used to time the crucial burn to return them to Earth. The Speedmaster Snoopy celebrates this achievement and features the Snoopy patch on the seconds sub dial.
