Description
One of the earliest commercially produced wristwatches, the original Santos was created by Louis Cartier in 1904 at the request of the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont who wanted to be able to tell the time while flying. Its distinctive square case featuring rounded angles and a bezel with exposed screws made for an iconic watch that’s inspired countless reinterpretations. This version in stainless steel features a skeleton dial that exposes the 9629 MC automatic movement, with grey-lacquered bridges. The micro-rotor, situated in the lower left of the dial, incorporates a miniaturised replica of the Demoiselle airplane flown and built by Santos-Dumont. The case is water-resistant to 30 metres and it comes on an alligator leather strap.
