Introduced in 2016, the Richard Lange Jumping Seconds is deceptively simple with its regulator-style display and over-sized seconds dial. Most notably, it features a jumping seconds hand that imitates a quartz watch by moving in deadbeat-fashion—a tick for each second—rather than the sweeping motion of most mechanical watches. Hours and minutes are displayed in two separate subdials, and where these intersect is a discreet power reserve warning indicator—rather than a full power reserve display— notifying you of the immediate need for winding. The 39.9mm case is platinum and houses a solid silver dial, complemented by white gold hands for the minutes and hours displays, and a blued-steel alpha-style hand for the jumping seconds dial above. Through the sapphire caseback is displayed a manual-wind movement exquisitely decorated by Lange’s experienced craftspeople, from unique, finely engraved balance cocks to Glashütte stripes on the bridges. This stunning watch is limited to 100 pieces.
